Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan (born 14 March 1965) is an acclaimed Indian actor, filmmaker, and television personality known for his contributions to Hindi cinema. Dubbed “Mr. Perfectionist” by the media, Khan is celebrated for his diverse roles and films that address social issues such as education and gender equality, often having a positive societal impact both in India and internationally. With a career spanning over 30 years, he has become one of the most prominent figures in Indian cinema, earning numerous accolades, including nine Filmfare Awards, four National Film Awards, and an AACTA Award. He has also been honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010, and received an honorary title from the Government of China in 2017.

Khan’s on-screen journey began as a child actor in his uncle Nasir Hussain’s film *Yaadon Ki Baaraat* (1973). His first feature film role as an adult was in *Holi* (1984), and he fully embarked on his acting career with a leading role in *Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak* (1988). His performance in *Raakh* (1989) earned him a National Film Award in the Special Mention category. Throughout the 1990s, Khan solidified his status as a leading actor with a string of commercially successful films, including *Dil* (1990), *Rangeela* (1995), *Raja Hindustani* (1996), for which he won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor, and *Sarfarosh* (1999).

In 1999, Khan founded Aamir Khan Productions, with its first film *Lagaan* (2001) receiving a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and winning a National Film Award for Best Popular Film and two Filmfare Awards (Best Actor and Best Film). His role in *Dil Chahta Hai* (2001) also garnered critical acclaim. After a four-year hiatus, Khan returned with significant roles in *Fanaa* (2006) and *Rang De Basanti* (2006). He made his directorial debut with *Taare Zameen Par* (2007), winning Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director. Khan’s most significant commercial successes include *Ghajini* (2008), *3 Idiots* (2009), *Dhoom 3* (2013), *PK* (2014), and *Dangal* (2016), each breaking records as the highest-grossing Indian film at their respective times. He won his third Filmfare Best Actor award for *Dangal*.

Khan has a vast following, especially in India and China, and has been described by Newsweek as “the biggest movie star in the world.” He has been regularly listed among the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world and gained further recognition for creating and hosting the television talk show *Satyamev Jayate*. His efforts as a social reformer earned him a place on Time’s 100 most influential people in the world list in 2013.
